The father of modern medicine Hippocrates, was born in Greece around 460BC and his wisdom is still taught in medical schools across the globe. Not so modern you might think but still as relevant today as ever.
The following quotes are accredited to Hippocrates. Considering their age the relevance to life today is remarkable.
"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food." Never was a truer word said. Fresh is best.
"Walking is man's best medicine." Getting up and moving frequently during the day, short walks spaced during the day are every bit as beneficial as one longer one. Enjoy the fresh air, get some Vitamin D from sunlight, say "hello" to other people, listen to nature and take pleasure from the great space we live in.
" That which is used develops. That which is not used wastes away." Use it or lose it.
"Before you heal someone, ask him if he is willing to give up, the things that make him sick." Giving up highly processed foods, high alcohol consumption, fast-foods, sugary drinks and snacks, too much sitting , smoking are all making us sick.
"Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease." The body has an incredible ability to heal itself, given the right conditions. Nurture the body and it will repair.
